Houston Christian announced the addition of Herschel Sims to its coaching staff. Sims will coach the inside receivers for the Huskies after spending the last two seasons as a senior quality control analyst with SMU. An alum of Abilene Christian, Sims has also spent time at UIW and was a grad assistant at North Texas. Before joining the Cardinals, Sims was tight ends coach and co-special teams coordinator at Richardson High School.

Lamar named Jacob Diaz as director of football operations. Diaz spent the last two seasons as wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator at Division II Adams State. Diaz began his coaching career at Southwest High School in California before serving as a graduate assistant at Briar Cliff for three years.
Western Athletic Conference

Sam Houston announced the addition of Brian Natkin to the coaching staff. Natkin will serve as offensive line coach after spending the last four years as assistant offensive line coach for the Arizona Cardinals. Natkin previously served as tight ends coach at his alma mater, UTEP, from 2012-2017 and was an assistant coach at Midwestern State from 2007-2011.

UTRGV coach Travis Bush continues establishing his coaching staff and has named Jeff Bowen as offensive line coach. Bowen spent the last four years as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Northeastern State. Bowen and Bush were both members of the UTSA staff during the Roadrunners inaugural season in 2011. The connection between Bush and Bowen began when Bush was a member of the Texas State coaching staff while Bowen was an offensive lineman for the Bobcats. Bowen has ties to multiple Texas schools, with stops at Stephen F. Austin along with Texas State and UTSA.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has confirmed that Stephen F. Austin running backs coach Eric Stephens is leaving the Lumberjacks to assume the same position at Texas State, as first reported by FootballScoop.com. Stephens recently finished his first season with SFA after coaching stints at Sam Houston High School, Arlington Martin High School, and Ellison High School. Before beginning his coaching career, Stephens was a running back at Texas Tech from 2010-2012.
Lone Star Conference

Athlinkd.net released transfer rankings for each LSC team. UTPB earned the top spot in the rankings under new head coach Kris McCullough. West Texas A&M is second in the rankings, followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Angelo State. Central Washington, Midwestern State, Western New Mexico, Western Oregon, Eastern New Mexico, and Simon Fraser were tied for fifth.
American Southwest Conference

ASC commissioner Amy Carlton announced she would step away by June 30. Carlton served the last 16 years as commissioner of the ASC following a stint as assistant commissioner and director of media relations in the conference office. Questions surround the future of football in the ASC with the departure of Southwestern to the Southern Athletic Association this year, Sul Ross State to NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference, and McMurry, Texas Lutheran, and Austin College heading to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2024.

Trinity and Southwestern announced they would become full members of the SAA beginning with the Fall 2025 season. The Tigers and Pirates are affiliate members of the SAA for the 2023 season. Trinity and Southwestern non-football programs are currently members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, which is reinstating football for the 2024 season.
Sooner Athletic Conference
- Wayland Baptist head coach Marcos Hinojosa released his defensive coaching staff. Thomas Walser will serve as co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Walser spent the last two years as head coach at Holdenville High School in Oklahoma. Marcos Hinojos Jr. was elevated to co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Denzel Bradford was retained and will coach the defensive line and serve as video coordinator.
