Sources have indicated to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football that Kris McCullough will become the second head coach in UTPB program history. McCullough has spent the last three years on the staff at East Central University, where he began as quarterbacks coach and special teams coordinator before being elevated to head coach in 2022.

McCullough led the Tigers to a 9-3 record and a 38-21 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in the Fun Town RV Heritage Bowl. The American Football Coaches Association selected him to attend its 2023 35 under 35 Leadership Institute. He was the only Division II coach selected to attend.

Before joining ECU, McCullough spent one season as the running backs coach while assisting with special teams and video coordinator for Fairmont State. He has also spent time as a quality control coach at Old Dominion and began his career assisting with recruiting and breaking down game film for his alma mater, Henderson State.

McCullough inherits a Falcons program that has been on the rise since Justin Carrigan began the program in 2015. UTPB has won five games in each of its previous three seasons while setting the program record for wins in the Lone Star Conference in the last two years. Carrigan led the Falcons to their first postseason appearance in the 2021 Fun Town RV Heritage Bowl.
