1. Texas Longhorns

Texas arguably has the best class in the nation, boasting the No. 1 QB (Arch Manning), No. 1 RB (Cedric Baxter Jr.), No. 1 LB (Anthony Hill Jr.) and five-star WR Johntay Cook.

2. TCU Horned Frogs

TCU has found a recipe for success, mixing in elite high school prospects like four-star WR Cordale Russell in with top-tier transfer portal targets like Trey Sanders (Alabama), Tommy Brockermeyer (Alabama), and JoJo Earle (Alabama).

3. Texas A&M Aggies

TCU's success in the transfer portal pushes them up to No. 2, but A&M had tremendous success in the Lone Star State, signing the state's No. 1 prospect (David Hicks Jr.) and the No. 1 RB (Rueben Owens II).

4. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Joey McGuire and Co. heavily focused on TXHSFB talent, which paid dividends.

5. Baylor Bears

The Bears rostered over 30 new faces between high school signings and transfers.

6. Houston Cougars

The offense will have an infusion of talent at WR led by four-star Mikal Harrison-Pilot, and the defense has some key transfers heading in.

7. SMU Mustangs

Another solid high school signing class bolstered by elite-level transfers like RB LJ Johnson (Texas A&M), S Jonathan McGill (Stanford), and OL Logan Parr (Texas).

8. UTSA Roadrunners

UTSA's ranking on this list doesn't put the proper perspective on how well it did. It was the best UTSA class ever, No. 1 in the conference.

9. Texas State Bobcats

The Take Back Texas movement helped Texas State secure 32 new players, which will immediately impact the depth chart.

10. Rice Owls

A well-rounded effort. The Owls are bringing in talent and depth at every position.

11. North Texas Mean Green

The UNT staff seemed to be collecting steam as the 2023 class closed out. Team to watch moving forward.

12. Sam Houston Bearkats

The Bearkats did an admirable job heading into an important 2023 season.
