Recruiting is an all-day, every-day business. So these programs only have a moment to catch their breath before they start building their class for next year. There will be a 1,000 changes over the next year, but here's a look at the base of each Power Four program's 2025 recruiting class.

1. Texas Longhorns

2025 Rank: 10 | # of Commits: 5 | Best In-State Commit: Texarkana Pleasant Grove DL Lance Jackson

Texas inked the state's top-ranked recruiting class in 2024, but took a national approach in doing so. According to The Athletic's Sam Khan, the Longhorns ranked third-to-last of 13 Texas FBS schools in signing just 54.5 percent of their prospects from in-state high schools. That trend looks to be continuing early in the 2025 cycle. Texarkana Pleasant Grove defensive lineman Lance Jackson is the only in-state player among Texas's five commits.

2. Baylor Bears

2025 Rank: 16 | # of Commits: 6 | Best In-State Commit: Columbus QB Adam Schobel

Baylor's been active the past couple weeks. The Bears were big winners on Signing Day, adding Fort Bend Marshall safety Joshua Lair after he was released from his Washington National Letter of Intent. Just a week prior, Tyler Chapel Hill athlete Demetrius Brisbon, the No. 68-ranked prospect in the DCTF Hot 100, flipped his commitment from SMU. Brisbon is a star high school quarterback but is expected to transition to wide receiver or defensive back in college. After signing just one quarterback in the past two cycles combined, Baylor needs to grind to maintain Columbus quarterback Adam Schobel's commitment.

3. Texas A&M Aggies

2025 Rank: 23 | # of Commits: 3 | Best In-State Commit: Katy Paetow CB Deyjhon Pettaway

Mike Elko essentialy had two months to re-recruit Texas A&M's 2024 class and somehow also added two defensive studs to the 2025 cycle in January. Cornerback Deyjhon Pettaway is the No. 11-ranked player in DCTF's Hot 100 who runs a 10.5 100m dash. Forney LB Kelvion Riggins is the state's No.1-ranked inside linebacker. Quarterback and running back should be the biggest needs for 2025 after not signing a high school player from either position group this past cycle.

4. SMU Mustangs

2025 Rank: 25 | # of Commits: 4 | Best In-State Commit: DeSoto WR Daylon Singleton

SMU's recruiting the transfer portal as well as any program in the nation, but 2024 left a little to be desired along the high school front. The good news on the Hilltop is 2025 is already off to a better start. Daylon Singleton broke out for back-to-back state champion DeSoto in 2023 with 1,211 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Mustangs have another state champion in Duncanville quarterback Keelon Russell. SMU has bolstered its defensive line with Power Four transfers, but only three high school recruits from the last three cycles is still on the roster in 2024. Expect them to attack the front seven for this class.

5. Texas Tech Red Raiders

2025 Rank: 26 | # of Commits: 9  | Best In-State Commit: Hitchcock QB Lloyd Jones

Texas Tech has the most commits of anyone in the state at this point, which should come as no surprise. The Red Raiders pride themselves on being the first to offer most of the guys on their list. They've reeled in five commitments from potential wide receivers, most notably Stephenville's Tristian Gentry, after losing two of their top four pass catchers to the transfer portal. Texas Tech didn't take a linebacker in the 2024 class, so expect them to target one this cycle.

6. TCU Horned Frogs

2025 Rank: 40 | # of Commits: 3 | Best In-State Commit: San Antonio Johnson QB Ty Hawkins

There's two ways to spin TCU's few number of commits. The positive - the Horned Frogs are seeking quality over quantity. Quarterback Ty Hawkins was his district's Overall MVP as a sophomore and Offensive MVP as a junior. North Crowley's Chris Jimerson Jr. compiled over 4,200 yards of total offense from the quarterback spot, but will transition to wide receiver at TCU. The flip side of the coin is that TCU only has three commitments after a 5–7 season.

Houston Cougars (N/A)

Having zero commits is not an ideal spot for Houston, but also not an unexpected scenario after hiring new head coach Willie Fritz in December. He had to cram just to fill out the 2024 class. The 2025 class will set the tone for the Fritz reign.
