Fort Bend Marshall 2024 S Joshua Lair (6'2, 195) researched his colleges and found the right fit in a Washington program that played for a national title under Kalen DeBoer.

So he signed with the Huskies in the Early Signing period and thought he was set.

But all that changed on Jan. 12 when DeBoer was hired as the new head coach at Alabama, and after some lobbying, Lair was released from his Letter of Intent on Jan. 19.

This opened the door for Dave Aranda and Baylor to step in and secure one of the state's highest-rated defensive stars.

"Lair is a very physical and instinctive player," said Fort Bend Marshall head coach James Williams. "He loves the game of football and he loves the team aspect of playing great defense. He will do very well at Baylor!"

Lair checks in as the No. 6 safety and the No. 53 prospect overall in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100.
