Prospect on the Rise
Jasper 2024 ILB Ty'Anthony Smith (6'2, 205) is the newest DCTF four-star prospect.
Smith was the top overall prospect regardless of position at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Houston and won the LB MVP award going away.
Smith has 18 offers: Auburn, Baylor, Boston College, LSU, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech, UTSA and UIW.
Commit of the Week
Duncanville 2023 CB Lamodrick Spencer (6'1, 170) committed to SMU over offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Louisville, Toledo and Utah State.
Spencer is rated as a DCTF three-star, checking in as the No. 20 CB in the state.
TexasFootball.com Scouting Report: Spencer is an aggressive-minded cornerback prospect who can flash in and out of his breaks and possesses the hip flexibility requisite to turn and run with receivers down the field, but he is at his best when attacking the ball.
Underclassman of the Week
It has been an unbelievable week for Lake Belton 2024 CB Selman Bridges (6'4, 170) who has picked up new offers from Washington, Oklahoma, Texas, Penn State, California, Texas A&M and Miami (FL).
Bridges also has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Duke, Houston, Nebraska, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, USC, UTSA and Vanderbilt.
As a junior, Bridges collected 46 tackles and two interceptions and had 6 PBUs to help lead the Broncos to an 8-3 finish.
Recruit of the Week
Frisco Emerson 2024 QB Michael Hawkins (6'2, 190) was named QB MVP at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Houston following a dominant performance.
The MVP nod made it back-to-back years for Hawkins, who was tabbed as NLA's MVP in 2022.
Hawkins is closing in on a decision as he is set to announce his commitment on January 31. Schools in the mix are TCU, Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
