Hawley 2024 ATH Diontay Ramon Shedding Sleeper Status

2024 ATH Diontay Ramon (6'3, 185) had a tremendous performance to help Hawley capture the 2A Division I state title 54-28 over Refugio. He collected 174 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns.

"It feels extremely great," Ramon said. "16 games man; it's rough, especially going up against a team like Refugio. Mentally we came prepared and physically we came prepared."

Ramon is a two-way standout who could play offense or defense at the next level. He is still vastly under the radar but has secured an offer from Texas Tech.

"I would love to play receiver, but whoever wants me to play whatever position out there in college, I'm going to go for it," Ramon said.

"It's incredible (to have an offer from Texas Tech. Shoutout to Joey (McGuire). He loves athletes. He likes players who can go up and get the ball. He likes guys who can go out and make big-time plays."

Ramon's teammate Chandlin Myers is already verbally committed to Texas Tech in the Class of 2024 and he is hopeful that Ramon will join him in Lubbock.

"Yes sir, I do want him in Lubbock, but I also want what is best for him and whatever he wants to do," Myers answered when asked if he was recruiting Ramon to join him at Texas Tech. "I really want him to come with me there because I think me and him together is just something unheard of."

Pair of Gunter Underclassmen Make Waves

Gunter 2025 S Colin Peacock (6'1, 185) took home Defensive MVP honors in 42-7 3A Division II, a rare honor for a sophomore. Peacock had an interception and led his team in tackles.

"It was awesome," Peacock said. "I have great teammates and I wasn't expecting it; everyone plays good all the time. We are a great team and getting that interception was great but we just have such a good team that it just doesn't matter."

Peacock says that he patterns his game after Derwin James. He has yet to hear from any college programs but is hopeful that will change following his strong sophomore season.

Gunter 2024 WR/DB Cannon Lemberg (5'11, 170) had a strong game on both sides of the football but led the offense with six receptions for 94 yards.

"It was just a great game and our coaches came out with a great gameplan," Lemberg said. "We came out here with a goal and that's what we did. "I have improved a lot on what I do without the ball and I have improved my leadership qualities on the field. I am proud of myself and I am super proud of my team today."

Lemberg has already secured an offer from Marshall.

"I was just so excited to get that first D1 offer to start my recruiting process off and hopefully I will get a lot more now," Lemberg said. "I have a few schools in the FBS and Sun Belt looking to offer me."

Franklin's Sensational Sophomore

Franklin 2025 ATH Jayden Jackson (5'11, 210) was the talk of the press box after the media in attendance saw him in the pregame warmups and the eyeball test was followed by an MVP performance.

Jackson rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown to secure Offensive MVP honors.

"It was very exciting coming out here and performing well on the big stage and getting the 'W'," Jackson said. "All the hard work paid off."

Jackson has formed a close relationship with senior RB Bryson Washington, who is committed to Baylor. After the game both players were emotional because it was their final game together.

"Looking at him with tears coming out of his eyes, it hurts me too," Jackson explained. "I got emotional. I know those tears is because it is his last ride with me and this could be the last game we could possibly play together. I just hope he goes to Baylor and does big things."

Is there a chance that they could reunite in Waco?

"Yes sir," Jackson answered when asked if Baylor was showing him love. "And hopefully they offer soon!"

Jackson reports that he is also catching early interest from TCU and LSU.
