Texas A&M took a slide in recruiting to No. 14 nationally per the 247Sports Composite, after finishing No. 1 last year.

No. 14 puts the Aggies class into the elite category.

Five-star DE David Hicks Jr. (6'4, 270) remains committed to Texas A&M but has elected not to sign his Letter of Intent until Friday. Texas, Oregon and Oklahoma have been pushing hard to flip him.

Note: Hicks' commitment factors into A&M's team ranking posted above.

A&M secured a trio of in-state stars who we could look back on as being key to the class in Haslet Eaton TE Jaden Platt, Temple LB Tauren York, and Mansfield Lake Ridge DE Rylan Kennedy

Three Key Additions

Who were the highest-rated signees or prospects who might come in and make a significant impact?

RB Rueben Owens II (5'11, 190) - El Campo: A five-star running back with the ability to cut on a dime. All you need to do is watch his highlight tape to see what the Aggies are getting.

OG Chase Bisontis (6'5, 290) - Don Bosco Prep (N.J.): The No. 2 rated interior offensive lineman per the 247Sports Composite picked Texas A&M over offers from LSU, Michigan State and Rutgers. On tape, Bisontis is a mauler who sets the edge at offensive tackle. He could play anywhere om the offensive line.

ATH Dalton Brooks (6'1, 175) - Shiner: The No. 1 ATH in the DCTF Hot 100. Brooks will have his college coordinators fighting over which position fits him best; safety or wide receiver. His size, length, and range are hard to find in the secondary, but his after-the-catch skills (on offense) are equally impressive. Brooks has led Shiner to multiple state titles.

Fan Favorite

What prospect was a fan favorite on social media or a local hero who starred near the campus?

Chantz Johnson (6'2, 210) - College Station: The son of Texas A&M Sports Performance Coach Jerry Johnson earned an offer in the days leading up to National Signing Day. He played his high school ball just 12 minutes away from Kyle Field.

Super Sleeper

We pick one prospect on the commit list and explain how he might outplay his ranking in college.

DE Rylan Kennedy (6'4, 220) - Mansfield Lake Ridge: He saw a bump in his recruitment after a dominant senior season, which led to P5-level offers. He is a pass-rusher with a basketball background who can stand up on the edge or play with his hand in the dirt. He was built to chase down ball carriers.
