2025 QB Adam Schobel, 6-foot-4, 185-pounder from Columbus, committed to Baylor over Houston, Sam Houston, Texas State, UTSA and Oklahoma State offers.

Schobel, the son of Columbus head coach Matt Schobel, is an accurate and well-coached passer who understands how to pick a defense apart.

"Quick release, height, all those things that come with being a talented thrower," Columbus Head Coach Matt Schobel said about his son's development.

"He's gotten stronger, and we plan on running him a little more this year. He's becoming a more and more complete player. He's developed (physically) and gotten bigger, stronger, and faster."

Schobel's recruitment to Baylor carries an intriguing dynamic due to his family's football legacy.

Both his father, TE Matt Schobel, and uncle, DE Aaron Schobel, excelled at TCU before playing in the NFL.

Adam's BU commitment adds an interesting twist to his family's football lineage, but ultimately, it is about finding the perfect fit.

"I'm still a fan (of TCU), and that'll never change," Schobel said. "As a parent, all of that goes out of the window. What's best for your kid is what's best for your kid.

"From the very beginning, he's never really been too interested in going too far from home, so that box has been checked. The offense is perfect and similar to a lot of things we've done here.

"The number one thing is comfort with their coaches. The truth is, everybody you talk to says what kind of good people they are, how genuine they are, and they come across that way.

"We just felt comfortable, and he did as well. The facility is great. The conference is great. They just checked all the boxes. He feels that way, and I feel that way."

Schobel completed 156 of 233 for 2,739 yards and 36 touchdowns to earn first-team all-district honors as a sophomore in 2022.
