Name: Josiah Martin | School: Denton Guyer | Class: 2024 | Pos: WR | HT: 6'0 | WT: 170
Breakdown: Martin, a fast-rising 2024 WR has seen his stock soar during the 2022 campaign, becoming one of Jackson Arnold’s top targets along with UIW commit Landon Sides. Martin had four catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns in Guyer’s 42-21 win over McKinney. Martin is extremely shifty in short area spaces to get in and out of breaks with fluidity and he displays above-average speed to get behind a defense. Expect interest to remain hot for Martin as Guyer is projected to be a deep playoff squad.
Name: LaTristan Thompson | School: Mount Pleasant | Class: 2024 | Pos: DB | HT: 6'0 | WT: 175
Breakdown: A 2024 sleeper in Northeast Texas, Thompson, whose nickname is “Money,” has great bloodlines as he’s the younger brother of Mount Pleasant legend KD Cannon. Thompson is a big and physical corner with good hips who thrives in press coverage, he’s got great ball skills which he displayed in a 23-13 loss to Longview Pine Tree. Thompson will need to hit the camp circuit hard this off-season and prove he’s got the elite quickness to compete with some of the state’s best WR’s and if he does that, the offers will soon come.
Name: Izaiah Bell | School: Harlingen | Class: 2023 | Pos: RB | HT: 5'10 | WT: 210
Breakdown: At over 200 pounds Bell is a tough and physical runner with deceptive speed. He's putting up huge numbers in the under-recruited part of the Rio Grande Valley, but more performances like his four-touchdown, 290-yard effort Friday night will get him on the radar. Probably not a Division I level athlete from a recruiting standpoint but could be a steal at the D2 level.
Name: Johntay Cook | School: DeSoto | Class: 2023 | Pos: WR | HT: 6'0 | WT: 170
Breakdown: Cook is rated as the No. 1 WR in the state for a reason. He is blistering fast off the line of scrimmage and has unbelievable body control. Defensive backs have to respect the fact that he might completely roast them off the line of scrimmage, which gives him the space to operate underneath, and he is an outstanding route runner. In the season finale, he went to work on Mansfield with another eye-popping stat line: 11 receptions, 161 yards, and three touchdowns.
Name: Deondre Riden | School: DeSoto | Class: 2024 | Pos: WR | HT: 5'10 | WT: 190
Breakdown: Got the nod as the starting RB in this contest in a loaded running back group featuring 2023 Texas commit Tre Wisner. Riden has a productive game, rushing the ball 12 times for 63 yards and a touchdown. He has been able to showcase his explosiveness and quick-cutting ability on the camp circuit, so it was great to see him follow the plays as they were called and run hard in between the tackles, showcasing a different element. He already has offers from schools like TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oregon, USC, etc.
Name: Trey Owens | School: Cy-Fair | Class: 2025 | Pos: QB | HT: 6'5 | WT: 210
Breakdown: Owens, a 2024 signal-caller, has seen his stock rise after a strong summer, at nearly 6’5 he’s got the size and arm strength to make every throw on the field as he displayed in a six-touchdown pass performance on Saturday. He’s put on good weight since last measured and may be closer to 215 lbs at this point. He’s mechanically sound and displays toughness and great leadership qualities as well, a high-academic performer as well, he’s a quick learner but he thrives in Cy-Fair’s pro-style system.
Name: Landon Rink | School: Cy-Fair | Class: 2025 | Pos: DE | HT: 6'3 | WT: 245
Breakdown: Rink, a 2025 defensive lineman, started eleven games at Class 6A Cy-Fair in suburban Houston as a freshman last year. He’s physically matured over the off-season and is an absolute menace for the 8-1 Bobcats who are one of Houston’s best kept secrets in 2022. In Saturday’s 51-0 win over Cy Ridge, Rink displayed a relentless motor that saw him consistently win one on one battles and shed blocks, he moves well in space and is just totally disruptive at the point of attack.
Name: Brenden Jordan | School: Mansfield | Class: 2023 | Pos: S | HT: 6'0 | WT: 190
Breakdown: Jordan is just a football-playing dude. He loves to attack the football and is great at run support. He is quick out to the flats and can chase down plays in the screen game or in the short/intermediate passing game. He has added some weight to his frame, making him a candidate to spend more time in the box at the next level. Jordan is committed to Texas Tech.
Name: Dealyn Evans | School: Longview Pine Tree | Class: 2024 | Pos: DE | HT: 6'4 | WT: 260
Breakdown: Evans, a four-star recruit who committed to Texas A&M in late July is a physical specimen who when dialed in displays a lethal combination of speed and strength that makes him one of the most disruptive defensive players in the state. He’ll need to improve his motor and ability to shed blocks in the run game when teams run right at him and that will come with more reps and another off-season.
