Aeryn Hampton has half the plan figured out. He's going to suit up for the Texas Longhorns in two years, but he doesn't know which position he'll play.

The four-star class of 2024 prospect has shown explosive athleticism on the deep ball as a slot wide receiver at Daingerfield High School, catching 44 balls for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore. He's a home run threat every time he gets the ball on a jet sweep, evidenced by his 13.63 yards per carry and six touchdowns. Just when the opposing team thinks they've gotten a break from him, he lines up at corner back and guards their best receiver. As much as he guards the endzone on defense, he also finds it, taking five of his nine interceptions last year back to the house.

He's run routes, he's gotten physical in press coverage, he's rotated back to safety and he's even played some quarterback. Surely he's going to have to pick a position once he gets to Austin, Texas, but that specialization can wait. Right now, Daingerfield needs the District 10-3A DII Co-Utility Player of the Year everywhere.

Hampton gave everyone a sneak peak of his upcoming junior year at the State 7-on-7 tournament in College Station.

Daingerfield went 11–3 last season before falling in the fourth round of the playoffs, and they are DCTF's No.4-ranked team ahead of this season in Class 3A Division II. Hampton, a first team All State selection as a sophomore, headlines an exciting group of returning players at the skill positions.

In addition to Hampton, CJ Gilbert and Jakevian Rodgers also line up as both wider recievers and defensive backs. Gilbert, a third-team All State selection, has picked up offers from Ouachita Baptist and Lamar this summer alone. Standing at 6-foot-3-inches and 190 pounds, he serves as an outside reciever deep threat and a rangy strong safety. Rodgers boasts offers from Baylor, Indiana and Colorado State, among others, after he put up 580 yards and five touchdowns receiving as as junior.

Hampton, Gilbert and Rodgers are all listed as athletes and will play all over the secondary and offensive skill positions this upcoming season. They'll help Daingerfield break in a new QB after losing last year's District MVP Dee Lewis to graduation.

Despite his commitment to Texas, Hampton is not done taking visits. He's already trekked to Texas A&M this summer and planned to visit Oklahoma State, Oregon and Alabama. The Longhorns still have some work to do over the next two seasons to secure his pledge.
