THREE RECEIVERS THAT IMPRESSED

Hebron WR Koda Bridges
Recognize the last name? The younger brother of Oklahoma’s Trejan Bridges made quite a name for himself in College Station in helping guide the Hawks to their first 7-on-7 title. Bridges was crisp out of his routes and showed tremendous quickness, playing much bigger than his 5-9, 165-pound frame would indicate. I was shocked to see he only had offers from Connecticut and Illinois State; I think this kid’s a gamebreaker.

Gunter WR Cole Lemons
You don’t necessarily think of passing game when you think of Gunter, more known for their pistol-option offense, but with the big target on the outside in Lemons, maybe we should. Standing 6-2 and exhibiting exceptional all-around fluidity, Lemons gave the Tigers — who were missing starting quarterback Hut Graham — a mismatch on the outside. But don’t mistake him for just a jump-ball specialist; he has the quickness to beat man coverage and a sound understanding of coverages to find the soft spot in the defense. He could give Gunter a threat in the passing game they haven’t really had, and the fact that he’s a star defender makes him even more valuable.

Pleasant Grove TE Lance Jackson
Talk about passing the eyeball test. The brother of LSU signee Landon Jackson is just a freshman, but already checks in at 6-5 and nearly 250 pounds. But once you get over gawking at his size, you’ll realize what soft hands he has, providing a big target for the Pleasant Grove passing attack. Coach Josh Gibson thinks he has a chance to be a 5-star recruit, and after seeing him in the flesh, I’m inclined to agree; that is a large child.
