Saginaw offensive coordinator Andrew Fellows has been named the next athletic director/head football coach at McCamey, McCamey ISD announced on Friday. 

He replaces Michael Woodard, who became the McCamey Middle School principal.

“The administration in McCamey has a lot former coaches; the superintendent was a Coach, I played for the high school principal when I was in high school at Iraan and Coach Woodard is the middle school principal," Felows said. "The administration knows the importance of athletics and that it is the front door to the school."

Fellows comes from a coaching background as his father John Fellows is currently the athletic director/head football coach at Kermit High School. He’s spent the last two years as the offensive coordinator at Saginaw High School working under SHS head coach Mike Peters. Prior to his time in Saginaw, Fellows worked for Peters as the co-offensive coordinator for two seasons at Fort Stockton where he was part of a staff that earned Fort Stockton’s first playoff win in school history.

Fellows started his coaching career working for his father when he was the athletic director/head football coach at Alpine. He spent four seasons on staff at Alpine, three as the Fighting Bucks offensive coordinator.

The new McCamey head coach cited the facility improvements across the district as a big draw as well. 

“They have built a new elementary school and we are getting a brand-new high school soon," he said. "It just shows how much the community supports their school and they aren’t staying stagnant."

Fellows hopes to get started within the next week.
