RANKING THE 2024 IN-STATE RECRUITING CLASSES

1. Texas Longhorns

For the second straight year, the Longhorns lead the state in recruiting, signing one of the best classes in the country featuring three of the highest-rated prospects in the Lone Star State: DE Colin Simmons (No. 2 overall), S Xaxier Filsaime (No. 7) and CB Kobe Black (No. 9).

Instant Impact Transfer: S Andrew Mukuba (Clemson)

2. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Joey McGuire and Co. guided Tech to its first-ever No. 1 finish in the Big 12 and a Top 25 finish nationally. The state's top prospect and DCTF Rising Coverboy Micah Hudson (No. 1) is the highest-rated prospect to ever ink with the Red Raiders. QB William Hammond (No. 39) and Ellis Davis (No. 42) both check in as DCTF four stars.

Instant Impact Transfer: TE Jalin Conyers (Arizona State)

3. Texas A&M Aggies

This class should be looked at as a massive success as new head coach Mike Elko retained many essential pieces, including TXHSFB's No. 1 ATH and DCTF five-star Terry Bussey (No. 5). It also did a fantastic job in the trenches signing DL Dealyn Evans (No. 15), OT Ashton Funk (No. 32) and OG Blake Ivy (No. 42).

4. TCU Horned Frogs

Folks are sleeping on this TCU class, but it is very talented from top to bottom. Four-star QB Hauss Hejny is the headliner (No. 27), and as an early enrollee, he is already competing for the starting job. Four-star WR Gekyle Baker (No. 38) is a field-stretcher with big play potential. The RB class is special with Nate Palmer and Jeremy Payne.

Instant Impact Transfer: WR Braylon James (Notre Dame)

5. SMU Mustangs

SMU should be considered elite as it relates to Transfer Portal recruiting but also mixed in four DCTF Rising Hot 100 members: S Ka'Davion Dotson (No. 60), ATH Derrick McFall (No. 65), LB Brandon Booker (No. 70) and CB William Nettles (No. 96).

Instant Impact Transfer: OL Savion Byrd (Oklahoma)

6. Baylor Bears

Dave Aranda's Bears moved up some with the NSD signings of Fort Bend Marshall safety Joshua Lair (No. 53) and Mississippi DL Alex Foster. Tidehaven RB Joseph Dodds (No. 89) is another name BU fans have to know this cycle.

Instant Impact Transfer: QB Dequan Finn (Toledo)

7. Houston Cougars

It is a new era of recruiting at UH under the direction of Willie Fritz, who will take a more analytical approach to the process. Four-star S Maurice Williams (No. 31) is the highest-rated defensive commit since Ed Oliver and Spring Westfield OL Ray'Quan Bell (NR) was an Under Armour All-American.

Instant Impact Transfer: DL Keith Cooper (Tulane)

8. North Texas Mean Green

This is a deep high school class with 18 DCTF three-star signings. These talented players have admirable qualities, like WR Jaydon Smith's 39 2023 touchdowns or WR Baron Tipton's 6'5 frame.

Instant Impact Transfer: QB Chandler Morris (TCU)

9. UTSA Roadrunners

This year, UTSA took a more balanced approach with high school signings and the Transfer Portal. There is still more room to add to the roster, so seeing how the spring unfolds will be interesting.

Instant Impact Transfer: CB Denver Harris (LSU)

10. Texas State Bobcats

It is fair to say that GJ Kinne has completely reinvigorated recruiting in San Marcos. There are plenty of recruits for the Bobcats fans to be proud of. They signed 10 DCTF three-star prospects, and OL Brock Riker was named an On3 four-star this week.

Instant Impact Transfer: DE Steven Parker (UIW)

11. UTEP Miners

Scotty Walden and his staff are bringing a new energy and approach to recruiting, and it's working. Soak it in, Miners fans!

Instant Impact Transfer: RB Jevon Jackson (Austin Peay)

12. Rice Owls

With eight DCTF three-star prospects in the fold, Rice will not get enough credit for a solid job recruiting TXHSFB talent.

Instant Impact Transfer: QB EJ Warner (Temple)

13. Sam Houston State Bearkats

DeSoto three-star QB DJ Bailey enters the program boasting back-to-back state title wins, leading a group of seven DCTF three-stars.

Instant Impact Transfer: S Jaylon Jimmerson (Liberty)
