Three Key Additions

Who were the highest-rated signees or prospects who might come in and make a significant impact?

DE Colin Simmons (6'3, 225) - Duncanville: Simmons is a terror as a pass rusher. His 22.5 sacks set a Duncanville record in 2022. The No. 1-rated DE picked the Longhorns over offers from SEC rivals Alabama, LSU and Georgia. He is UT's highest-rated EDGE commit since Jackson Jeffcoat in the Class of 2010.

WR Ryan Wingo (6'2, 205) - St. Louis University (Mo.): The No. 5 rated prospect in the nation per the 247Sports Composite picked Texas over offers from Missouri and Georgia. Wingo possesses 10.55 100-meter speed and a college-ready frame, marking him a candidate for early playing time. He can stretch the field but has running back skills with the ball in his hands, so look for him to be featured in unique ways. Texas is still waiting on his LOI.

S Xavier Filsaime (6'0, 180) - McKinney: The No. 2 safety prospect in the nation per the 247Sports Composite. Flipped to UT after a longtime commitment to Florida. Filsaime is the prototype safety, a big hitter who arrives at the football with evil intentions and has the range to cover the field in pass coverage. His 10.52 100-meter speed pops on tape.

Fan Favorite

What prospect was a fan favorite or a local hero who starred near the campus?

Trey Owens (6'5, 205) - Cy Fair: Owens is a quarterback who plays with fire and passion and is equally passionate about his commitment to the Longhorns. We love this commitment for UT because he is not the type to shy away from competition, and he brings something unique to the QB room with his pocket-passing skills and touch.

Super Sleeper

We pick one prospect on the commit list and explain how he might outplay his ranking in college.

CB Jordon Johnson-Rubell (5'10, 180) - IMG Academy (Fla.): A very versatile defensive back with the ability to play anywhere in the secondary. He's known for his aggressive play style—and high IQ. The 247Sports three-star could make a major impact and get early playing time due to his positional flexibility.
