Tarleton Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lonn Reisman will retire at the end of the 2023-2024 school year, as first reported by Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger. Reisman has served as the Texans athletic director for 30 years, including serving as full-time athletic director for the last six years.

Reisman arrived in Stephenville in 1988 and roamed the sidelines for over 30 seasons as men’s head basketball coach. He compiled 654 wins at Tarleton and is one of only 14 coaches at the NCAA Division I and II levels with more than 650 career wins.

He served dual roles as head men’s basketball coach and athletic director for 24 seasons before ending his storied coaching career

As athletic director, Reisman has led Tarleton from the NAIA to NCAA Division I. He retires as the longest-tenured AD in school history, surpassing the 20-year career of W.J. Wisdom. Reisman was inducted into the Tarleton Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019.

Reisman has spearheaded efforts to revitalize Tarleton’s athletic facilities, including a $26 million renovation of Memorial Stadium. He was also instrumental in a new $110 million multipurpose arena set to open in 2025 that will house the Texans men’s and women’s basketball programs.

During his tenure, Tarleton has also upgraded its baseball, softball, and tennis facilities. His leadership has been instrumental in the building of a new soccer complex that will house the women’s soccer team and an Olympic-caliber track and field complex.
