The Houston Cougars continued to utilize the transfer portal to gear up for their inaugural Big 12 season on Tuesday afternoon with the addition of USC cornerback Lattrell McCutchin. The Texas native returns home after two years at USC and one at Oklahoma. He followed head coach Lincoln Riley out west prior to the 2022 season.

McCutchin recorded 22 tackles, including a sack, as well as a forced and recovered fumble during 14 games in 2022. He started one game for USC in 2021 and once for Oklahoma as a true freshman in 2021. McCutchin was four-star recruit from Austin LBJ who helped the Jaguars reach a state championship game as a senior.

McCutchin will compete alongside current roster members such as Alex Hogan, Isaiah Hamilton, and Jalen Emery for playing time at cornerback or nickel.
