Houston football added Texas Tech running back Ta'Zhawn Henry as a transfer on Saturday. Henry announced his decision on Twitter.
Henry will likely have to sit out the 2020 season due to NCAA transfer rules, but will have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2021.
The 5-foot-7, 185-pound running back played 20 games in two seasons as a Red Raider. He rushed the ball 161 times for 681 yards, and added 44 catches for 283 receiving yards. Plus, he served as kick returner for the Red Raiders in 2019, returning 13 kickoffs for 24.5 yards per return.
While the Cougars could use Henry in 2020, he slots in perfectly on the Houston scholarship chart. Seniors Mulbah Car and Kyle Porter both graduate after 2020. The leading underclassman rusher in 2019 was quarterback Clayton Tune. Henry's all-purpose ability will be a welcome addition to the young position group.
Henry played high school ball at Houston Lamar, where he rushed for more than 3,300 yards and 42 touchdowns in three seasons despite missing games with injuries. He picked Texas Tech over a plethora of Power Five offers.
