One of the more challenging jobs in college football is at Texas College, where Jarrail Jackson spent his 2022-2023 season as head football and baseball coach for the Steers. A former offensive coordinator at Tyler Junior College, Jackson helped the Steers break a 19-game losing streak with a 38-34 win over Lyon College.
The circumstances weren’t great when Jackson arrived, but he is laying the groundwork for better days for a Steers program ravaged by the pandemic. Texas College has begun funding a few scholarships, and Jackson led the school’s efforts to mend fences with Tyler ISD. The relationship will provide the Steers with a turf field to practice on when needed, and the college has a three-year deal with Nike for the football program. It won’t be long before Jackson’s efforts will lead to more victories.
