Back on the field, Jeff Girsch has led Angelo State to its most successful run as an NCAA institution, and that success should continue in 2023. The Rams set a program record for wins during their NCAA era (12) while making their second consecutive appearance in the Super Region Four finals. Another run to the national quarterfinals will not be easy for ASU.

The Rams lost two All-Americans, offensive lineman Jacob Long and linebacker Daron Allman, along with LSC Offensive Back of the Year Nate Omayebu, to the transfer portal. However, All-American defensive back Andrew Pitts returns and will be a favorite for LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Offensively, watch for running back Kason Philips, who impressed the coaching staff during the spring.
