Tyler 2024 ATH Derrick McFall (5'11, 175) announced his commitment to SMU today, picking the Mustangs over offers like Louisville, UCLA, Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma State and more.

The one-time UCLA commitment flipped from the Bruins to the Mustangs powered by a successful official visit to SMU earlier this season.

The big recruiting news comes on the news that SMU signed head coach Rhett Lashlee to a multiyear extension ahead of the program's move to the ACC in 2024.

McFall is rated as the No. 59 prospect in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100.

Scouting Report: A dynamic offensive weapon with an elusive style that poses a nightmare for defenders in confined spaces. His exceptional ability to navigate through tight quarters makes tackling him a formidable challenge. Beyond his offensive prowess, McFall's versatility extends to his role as a return man, where his elusiveness becomes an even more significant asset. College coordinators, recognizing his unique skill set, will undoubtedly devise creative strategies to ensure he gets ample touches, allowing him to showcase his agility, speed, and playmaking ability on the field. McFall's impact goes beyond traditional offensive roles, making him a multi-dimensional threat that keeps opposing defenses on their toes.

This season, McFall accumulated 128 rushing yards, 818 receiving yards, and 198 kickoff return yards, surpassing 1,000 all-purpose yards.
