2023 Houston C.E. King DE Dylan Spencer (6'4, 240) committed to Texas over offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, LSU, SMU, Texas A&M and USC.

UT was Spencer's first scholarship offer.

Spencer is rated as the No. 40 prospect in the DCTF Hot 100, checking in as the No. 8 DE.

Spencer joins Arlington Seguin S Jamel Johnson on the Horns' 2023 commitment list.

Scouting Report:

Spencer played his junior season at C.E. King after spending his sophomore year at Katy Taylor and his freshman year at West Orange-Stark. He broke onto the scene as an athlete playing multiple positions but has grown into a true defensive line projection and has the size and strength to play as a strongside end or he could possibly add even more weight and move inside at some point.

Spencer checks in as one of the state's highest-rated prospects because he has a rare combination of athleticism and power. You can easily see the suddenness in his play, however, he wins more of his one-on-one matchups in the trenches with talent over technique at this point. That statement can be read in a negative light, but that is not the intention, because he has a high upside for development in college.
