SMU's Iron Skillet rivalry with TCU is on pause after 2025, but the Mustangs added another Texas team to fill the void.

SMU announced a home-and-home with Baylor  for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. The Mustangs will host the Bears on September 6, 2025, then travel to Waco on September 19, 2026.

Baylor leads the all-time series 39–36–7, with the last win coming in 2016. The Bears are on a 13-game win streak against the Ponies. SMU's last victory was in 1986. The two teams played every year as Southwest Conference rivals from 1953-1986.
