Texas A&M-Commerce wide receiver Keith Miller III died in his apartment near campus on April 11, the school said in a press release. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of death. Texas Football Life on Twitter/X was the first to report Miller’s death.

"We are heartbroken by Keith's unexpected passing," Commerce head coach Clint Dolezel said in a statement. "Keith was a beloved father, son, teammate, and student-athlete. We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all who loved him at this very difficult time."

A native of The Colony, Miller was a three-star wide receiver in the Class of 2020 for Dave Campbell's Texas Football. He was twice honored as a first-team All-District 5-6A selection after recording 1,587 yards and 17 touchdowns during his junior and senior seasons in high school.

"We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Keith Miller. The A&M-Commerce community extends its deepest condolences to Keith's family and those who knew and loved him," Commerce athletic director Jim Curry said. "Words are hard to come by at this moment, but we ask that you keep those impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers."

According to ESPN, Miller was a top 150 wide receiver in the nation out of high school and was ranked the 121st best player in Texas. Miller began his collegiate career at Colorado, where he did not see any game action in two seasons before transferring to Texas A&M-Commerce.

He appeared in 18 games for the Lions during the last two seasons and totaled 457 yards and four touchdowns on 39 receptions.

The school announced the A&M-Commerce Counseling Center has expanded its services for students in need of guidance or support.
