Mesquite ISD announced the resignation of West Mesquite head football coach Frank Sandoval on Monday after four seasons leading the program. West Mesquite has struggled the past four years in some of the state’s toughest 5A-Division I district alignments.

Expect this opening to get plenty of interest for multiple reasons, primarily because of Mesquite ISD’s reputation as a quality district to work in and also because West Mesquite drew a much more favorable draw for the next two seasons as the Wranglers are aligned with Dallas ISD and Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD.

Reports are that Mesquite ISD athletic director Kody Groves will have the job posted in the next 24 hours and with the timing of the opening right before spring break. The hiring process may not get completed until early April.
