McGregor ISD has named Klein Cain assistant head coach Quentin White as the Bulldogs next athletic director and head football coach.

He replaces Mike Shields, who did not have his contract renewed after leading McGregor the past five seasons.

White, a native of George West, is best known in the Houston area for a 12-year stint as an assistant coach at Katy Cinco Ranch. He also has experience coaching on staff at Lake Travis and Katy Morton Ranch. He’s spent the past five seasons on staff at Klein Cain.

“I knew the work that the superintendent here in McGregor had done in Round Rock ISD and I felt great about what he was trying to bring to this community," White said. "McGregor is going through a renaissance and it feels like a place that is on the upswing and has a lot of community support."White had the honor of being named the Greater Houston Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018. He's twice coached in the Bayou Bowl as well.

White, who is slated to begin in McGregor on March 18, says the fit is perfect for him.

“When talking to the folks in community and admin you get an idea of how they want their kids coached, and I feel like my style fits this community," he said. "I spent a little time in the coffee shop asking around and the community wants high expectations and for the coaches to push the kids. I’m a small town guy at heart and I’m looking for a challenge and I want to be in a program that I can leave a mark on."
