Texas Tech received a major boost to its 2024 roster with running back Tahj Brooks announcing his return for a fifth season.

Brooks, the DCTF All-Texas Offensive Player of the Year, was the nation's fourth-leading rusher this season with 1,443 yards. The senior ripped off eight 100-yard performances in the final ten games of the season, in which the Red Raiders posted a 6–4 record.

This is the second-consecutive off-season that Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire has been able to convince an NFL-bound senior to return for a fifth year in Lubbock (DT Tony Bradford Jr.).

"This is an exciting day for our program with Tahj announcing his return for next season," McGuire said. "From our conversations in recernt weeks, it was clear that Tahj wants to leave a legacy here at Texas Tech and that a return for next season would help him do just that."

It's also a statement win for Texas's Tech NIL collective, the Matador Club, which helped persuade Brooks to return instead of testing his NFL value as a mid-round Draft pick. Brooks is 1,178 yards away from becoming the program's all-time leading rusher.
