College Station (11-1) vs. Smithson Valley (11-1), 12:30 p.m. Friday at Hutto’s Memorial Stadium: It’s a rematch of an epic regional final between these two teams a year ago when a College Station goal line stand as time expired preserved the Cougars win and eventual run all the way to the state title game.

College Station had no trouble with Magnolia last week in a 45-21 win. Wilson Stapp ran for three scores and QB Arrington Maiden, a Memphis commit, had a strong night as well.

Smithson Valley got a big push from Magnolia West last week, but the Rangers were able to escape with a 20-17 victory. The Rangers defense held MWHS to just 203 yards of offense, while RB Cade Spradling led the charge with 119 yards rushing and a score; Brad Sowersby chipped in 75 yards on the ground and a score.

Smithson Valley’s defense is state title level good, but do the Rangers have enough offense to get it done against an always explosive College Station attack? I think they do; we’ll follow the revenge narrative for this one and go with Smithson Valley.

Stepp’s Pick: Smithson Valley by 2
