Prospect on the Rise

Klein Collins 2024 S Chris Gant. Jr. (5'10, 185) committed to North Texas over offers from Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Air Force, Army, Navy, UIW and more. 

Gant is a highly productive player who racked up 70 tackles, seven TFLs, three interceptions and six PBUs as a junior in 2022. 

Scouting Report: Gant is a physical tackler with natural football instincts and a nose for the football. He handles space well and triggers quickly to tackle. While a tackling specialist, he shows good cover skills, despite lacking the length to match up favorably versus tight ends and big-bodied receivers.

Commit of the Week

Clear Springs 2024 OL Blake Ivy (6'4, 280) committed to Texas A&M over LSU and Texas. 

Ivy is rated as the No. 3 OG and the No. 39 prospect overall in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100. 

While rated as an offensive guard, Ivy can play anywhere on the offensive front per Clear Springs Head Coach Anthony Renfro. 

"His god-given athletic ability makes him special," Renfro said. "He's 6'4, 280 and has a 7'1 wingspan, but he's also one of our hardest workers."

"He can play center, guard, or tackle. I think he will find his way onto the field on the inside early in his career, and then if he has to move outside, he can definitely do it because of his arm length, but he can play anywhere because he is so athletic."

Underclassman of the Week

Lufkin 2025 DT Zion Williams (6'4, 300) now boasts 13 scholarship offers, with the latest being from USC. 

Williams also owns offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Notre dame, Oklahoma State, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and UTSA.

Williams collected 31 tackles, three sacks, and four tackles for a loss as a sophomore in 2022. 

Recruit of the Week

Timpson ATH Terry Bussey (5'11, 180) scheduled official visits to Alabama (9/8) and LSU (9/22). 

Bussey, who is rated as the No. 5 prospect in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100, is set to announce his final decision on Sept. 28. 

Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma are also considered favorites.
