Ropes ISD on Tuesday night named Brock linebackers coach Beau Riker as the next head football coach at Ropes High School.

He'll replace Lane Jackson, who will remain at Ropes as the athletic director/head football coach.

“I am just excited to get back home to West Texas and the South Plains," he said. "Our family is all out here and its where we are from, so it is good to be home."

Riker has been an assistant coach in a state title game in three of the past four seasons.

He spent the 2022 season at Brock where he coached the linebackers and helped the Eagles play for the 3A-Division I state championship. Prior to this year, Coach Riker had spent the past 11 seasons on staff at Post where he was the defensive coordinator for the Antelopes who played in state title games in 2019 and 2020.

The Anton native also has spent two seasons on staff at Archer City and one season on the staff at Hubbard.

"Ropes ISD is growing and it’s part of a growing community," Riker said. "And the great thing is they are excelling academically and athletically. I’m excited to put my stamp on something new."
