In recruiting this cycle, Texas got who it wanted to rank 4th nationally in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.

The impressive haul included the No. 1 QB (Arch Manning), the No. 1 RB (Cedric Baxter) and the No. 1 LB (Anthony Hill)

Additionally, Texas landed 4 of the Top 10 in the DCTF Hot 100, flexing muscle in the Lone Star State.

The signing of CB Malik Muhammad (No. 1 CB in the DCTF Hot 100) should not be overlooked as Texas A&M and Alabama worked hard to flip him down the stretch. He has NFL potential at a key position of need.

Three Key Additions

Who were the highest-rated signees or prospects who might come in and make a significant impact?

QB Arch Manning (6'4, 215) - Isidore Newman (La.): The No. 1-rated quarterback in the nation. Manning comes from a well-known football family and possesses the composure, intelligence, and arm strength you would expect. The five-star checks all the boxes.

LB Anthony Hill (6'2, 225) - Denton Ryan: The one-time Texas A&M commit is a DCTF five-star, checking in at No. 2 in the state. Hill is an impressive specimen with experience playing middle linebacker and the skillset/size of an elite edge defender. He buries ball carriers into the turf.

WR Johntay Cook (6'0, 170) - DeSoto: The No. 1-rated WR in the DCTF Hot 100 will boost the offense because he can stretch the field. He has elite ball-winning skills and the quickness to flash past defensive backs. He will make tough catches in traffic and has the speed to turn short completions into long gains.

Fan Favorite

What prospect was a fan favorite on social media or a local hero who starred near the campus?

DE Colton Vasek (6'6, 230) - Austin Westlake: Vasek flipped his commitment to Texas from Oklahoma following the Longhorns' beatdown of Oklahoma in Dallas. Vasek is an elite defender up front who compares favorably to Aidan Hutchinson of the Detroit Lions.

Super Sleeper

We pick one prospect on the commit list and explain how he might outplay his ranking in college.

OT Trevor Goosby (6'6, 280) - Melissa: We like Goosby as the pick here because he possesses rare athleticism and strength in a frame with upside to add. Goosby is like a power forward playing offensive tackle (unironically, he is also a tremendous basketball player).
