Prospect on the Rise

Humble Atascocita 2022 WR Chase Sowell (6'1, 185) picked up offers from UTSA and Northern Iowa after a strong performance in a 41-20 win over Allen. 

Sowell collected seven receptions for 182 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. 

Sowell is a two-sport star (baseball) as he is also considered one of the state's best outfielders. 

Commit of the Week

There were no new FBS-level commitments in TXHSFB this week, so we are using the opportunity to take a closer look at Everman 2022 OG Seth Martin (6'3, 285) who committed to TCU in early August. 

Martin checks in as a DCTF three-star prospect and picked the Horned Frogs over offers from North Texas, Texas State, Dartmouth, Furman and UNLV.

Scouting Report: Martin is a broad-shouldered interior offensive lineman who is hard to move upfront because he plays with good balance and leverage. He moves around pretty well for a player with his measurables. His overall athleticism is proven by his ability to make plays behind the line of scrimmage lining up at defensive tackle.  

Underclassmen of the Week

Timpson 2024 ATH Terry Bussey (6'0, 170) was nominated for Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week after an outstanding performance in a 49-28 win over Waskom.

Bussey passed for 201 yards and three touchdowns, rushed for 96 yards and three scores, and collected seven tackles and an interception.

Bussey has collected early offers from schools like UTSA and SFA but should be on everyone's radar.

Bussey was named the 10-2A Divison I District Offensive MVP after collecting over 2,800 total yards and scoring 38 touchdowns as a freshman.

Recruit of the Week

Arlington Bowie 2022 OG Devon Campbell (6'3, 310) named a top five of Texas, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and USC. 

The DCTF Super Team selection has already taken official visits to Oklahoma and USC. 

Campbell is rated as the No. 8 prospect in the DCTF Hot 100.
