Texas football added a commitment from Michigan graduate transfer wide receiver Tarik Black on Tuesday night. Black took to Twitter to announce the news.
Black ranked as one of the top receivers in the nation in the class of 2017. However, injuries limited his output in Ann Arbor. In his lone fully healthy season, Black caught 25 passes for 323 yards and a touchdown.
However, Black showed his potential early. In his first career game against Florida, Black caught two passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. With a more consistent quarterback situation at Texas, Black could thrive. His bulky 6-foot-3 frame makes him an ideal fit at outside receiver in the Texas offense.
The Longhorns are replacing NFL draft picks Devin Duvernay and Collin Johnson. Junior Brennan Eagles (32 catches for 522 yards, 6 TDs) and Jake Smith (25 catches for 274 yards, 6 TDs) project to be the top receivers in the rotation.
Black is expected to be immediately eligible and is eligible to take a redshirt season.
