Sources confirmed that 2026 QB Legend Howell (6'2, 180) is set to play for the DeSoto Eagles in 2024.

Howell, who lives in the DeSoto school district, played the last two seasons in the private school ranks at Bishop Lynch.

The Friars struggled to a 1-7 record in 2023, but Howell was very productive. He completed 157 of 260 (60%) passes for 2,242 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for 289 yards and two scores.

Howell camped at schools like Baylor, Rice and SMU.

DeSoto has won back-to-back 6A Division II state titles with Sam Houston signee D.J. Bailey under center. Bailey was one of the state's top performers, passing for 7,100 yards and 99 touchdowns to only four interceptions the past two seasons  (29-2).

Howell's arrival and Bailey's departure signal a new era for the Eagles' offense, which returns four-star RB Tiger Riden and four-star WR Daylon Singleton
