All eyes were on the highly anticipated debut of freshman prodigy WR Ethan "Boobie" Feaster (6'1, 175).

His debut wasn't just a game; it was a glimpse into the future of Texas high school football.

Feaster's number was called on the game's very first offensive play as DeSoto cruised to an impressive 39-7 victory.

"I feel I did great," Feaster said. "People thought I wasn't ready for varsity, but they saw tonight that I could catch in traffic and do anything. They saw my athleticism tonight. They saw that I could take the hits, they saw my physicality, and they saw that I could block."

"I just feel like I will be a big piece to the DeSoto team. I'm a guy that DJ (Bailey) can trust."

"Tonight, they saw that I was ready for varsity."

As DeSoto looks to defend its crown, they will need Feaster to step up to help fill the void left by superstar WR Johntay Cook II, who signed with Texas.

DeSoto head coach Claude Mathis is no stranger to grooming elite talent, but he has never had a freshman receiver earn a starting role.

"He earned that," Coach Mathis said. "I didn't give it to him. He earned it."

"It's his work ethic. He's a very smart kid. He comes to practice and works hard every day. As long as you can come to practice and compete, with me, you are always going to have a chance to get on the field."

If Feaster continues to work hard and develop, he could be the best Mathis has coached.

"He has a chance," Mathis said.

"He's the first (freshman) receiver that has ever played for me. I have had some good guys come through here, but I wanna go on the record and say that he's the first freshman that has played receiver for me."

"Sam Ajala (2011) was the best one until Johntay Cook (2023) came in and took over that (top) spot, so I've had two great ones right there, and he may take that over."

On the recruiting front, Feaster is already a known commodity to the college football world -- he's impressively collected 26 scholarship offers, including Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

With attention flying in from all angles, Feaster is set for a wild recruitment. This Fall, he hopes to visit programs such as LSU, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.
