Greenville AD/HFC Darren Duke Announces Retirement

Greenville head coach/athletic director Darren Dukes on Tuesday morning in a sudden announcement informed Greenville ISD administration.

Duke has been in Greenville since 2012 where he served as the Lions offensive coordinator from 2012-2015 before being promoted to athletic director/head football coach in 2016. 2019 was his best season leading Greenville when GHS posted a 6-5 record and advanced to the Class 5A state playoffs.

Duke started the program at Dallas Conrad where served as the Chargers first ever head coach from 2008-2011, he led Conrad to three straight playoff appearances from 2009-2011 including a bi-district playoff win in 2011. Coach Duke came up as an assistant under Marvin Sedberry, Sr. where he worked as an assistant Greenville from 1992-2001, then to Dallas Carter and then to Bryan, he also coached at Corsicana.

Greenville did participate in spring football, so the Lions have yet to start fall camp at this time, the freshmen began fall camp yesterday, but at this point there’s been no announcement from Greenville ISD as to who will serve as the Lions head football coach in 2023.
