San Antonio Veterans Memorial 2024 RB James Peoples (5'10, 195) committed to Ohio State over offers from Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, TCU and more.

Peoples' commitment continues Ohio State's trend of recruiting top talent from Texas. The Buckeyes have had at least one Texas native in their last eight recruiting classes, including La Grange running back J.K. Dobbins in 2017.

Ohio State's strong football program, coaching staff, and welcoming atmosphere on campus were the main factors in Peoples' decision to become a Buckeye.

Ryan Day sold him on the fact that he was the No. 1 RB priority nationally. He is comforted that the Buckeyes have already secured commitments from four offensive linemen in 2024.

Ohio State's offensive system is a great fit for Peoples' skillset. He is known for his quickness and ability to get to top speed quickly, making him a perfect fit for the Buckeyes' fast-paced, high-scoring offense.

Player Breakdown and Scouting Report

Peoples is a DCTF four-star prospect, the No. 12 prospect overall in Texas and the No. 2 RB.

As a junior, Peoples rushed for 1,904 yards and 28 touchdowns, earning All-State, THSCA Super Elite, and 13-5A Division II Co-MVP honors. He has been selected to play in the 2024 All-American Bowl.

Scouting Report: Peoples exhibits excellent initial burst. Once he penetrates the line of scrimmage, he promptly locates gaps and exploits defenses with quick north-south bursts. He demonstrates great decision-making abilities, whether to hit the hole or employ his explosive lateral agility to break out wide. His ability to accelerate quickly and maintain speed throughout the play is impressive, and he possesses deceptive top-end speed that can catch defenses off guard.
