Jersey Village head coach David Snokhous announced his retirement from coaching on Monday.

Snokhous took over at the Cy-Fair ISD program and led the Falcons for 27 seasons posting a 143-143 overall record. His best season came in 1998 when he led JVHS to a state semifinal appearance, falling to eventual state champion Duncanville.

“I love being a football coach," he said. "There’s not a better job in the world and I loved being a Jersey Village Falcon and I gave it my all each day. I’ve got so many great memories and friends. There’s nothing better. I couldn’t have chosen a better profession. It’s a sad day for me personally, but it’s also time."

This is the fourth head coaching opening that's taken place in Cy-Fair ISD this offseason with Cy Lakes hiring Cy Woods OC Tyrone Carter, Cy Creek opening with the retirement of Greg McCaig and Cy Ranch opening with Sean McAuliffe departing to take over at New Braunfels Canyon as its head coach.

Snokhous began his coaching career in Oklahoma where he was an assistant coach at Lawton High School. He then moved to Moore (OK) High where he served as the head coach for eight seasons. Snokous then came to Texas where he joined the staff at North Mesquite where served as an assistant coach before being hired to lead Jersey Village in the spring of 1997.

“What I’ll miss most is the relationships with the kids," he said. "You coach them and see them grow from freshman to grown men when they are seniors. The best reward is when kids come back and say thank you or when you see kids become successful fathers and husbands it makes it all worth it."

Snokhous says that his plans for retirement involve a lot of travel with his wife, spending time with family and working on his golf game.
