After just two seasons on the Hilltop, Rob Lanier is out according to multiple reports.

The Mustangs went 20-13 in Lanier's second season and finished fifth in the AAC. SMU's season just ended in the first round of the NIT against Indiana State, 101-92.

Lanier's first season was a dismal 10-22 following a roster reconstruction following the departure of Kendric Davis. Next season, SMU steps into a basketball powerhouse conference, the ACC, so one could safely presume that a big-name target is the aim for athletic director Rick Hart.
