REVEALED: Josiah Moseley and Aaliyah Chavez named 2023-24 Mr. and Miss Texas Basketball

Dave Campbell’s Texas Basketball is pleased to reveal the winners of our annual Mr. and Miss Texas Basketball Player of the Year Awards presented by Chicken Express, annually recognizing the most outstanding high school boys and girls basketball players in the state of Texas.

This year’s Players of the Year are senior forward Josiah Moseley of Round Rock Stony Point and junior guard Aaliyah Chavez of Lubbock Monterey.

Moseley, a senior and Villanova signee, led Stony Point to its most successful season in program history ending with an appearance in the school’s first Class 6A state championship game. He averaged over 23 points and 8 rebounds per game during the regular season in the state’s highest classification while also leading the state in made field goals in all classifications.

Chavez, a junior, continues her ascendency as the highest-rated recruit in the country for the Class of 2025. The South Plains star led the nation in made field goals and averaged over 37 points per game and 10 rebounds during her junior campaign.

Past winners of Mr. and Miss Texas Basketball include Tre Johnson (Lake Highlands, Texas) and Jalynn Bristow (Holliday, Iowa State) in 2022-23 and PJ Haggerty (Crosby, Tulsa) and Bailey Maupin (Gruver, Texas Tech) in 2021-22.
