Birdville head coach Lon Holbrook will move into an athletic administration position after leading the Hawks program since 2015, multiple sources tell to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

Holbrook, who has been a mainstay at Birdville High, was on staff at BHS in 2015 when he replaced the school’s first head coach Jim Skinner.

Holbrook posted a 51-47 record in his nine seasons with a high-water mark of 12-2 and a regional final appearance in 2018. The Hawks followed it up with a trip to the regional semifinals in 2019. Birdville posted a 4-6 record last season.

Expect Birdville ISD athletic director Barry Norton to post the job as quickly as possible, but with spring break looming that could delay the process a bit.

Birdville was aligned into District 3-5A Division I in February’s realignment with the Hawks being paired with Aledo, Azle, Denton, Denton Ryan, Granbury, Keller Fossil Ridge, Richland and White Settlement Brewer.
