2026 QB Nelson Peterson Jr. (6'2, 185) announced on social media that he will play at Forney beginning in 2024 after moving from Sunnyvale.

Peterson is the younger brother of NFL legend Adrian Peterson, who starred in Palestine before having a prolific 15-year career in the NFL.

Peterson led Sunnyvale to a 9-3 record as a sophomore in 2023, passing for 1,054 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushing for 631 yards and 10 scores to earn Offensive MVP honors in 6-4A Division II.

On the recruiting front, Peterson recently picked up his first offer from Texas Tech and has interest from programs like TCU and Oklahoma.

Forney went 13-2 and advanced to the 5A Division I state semifinals under the direction of head coach Jeff Fleener in 2023. The Jackrabbits were moved up a classification in this year's UIL realignment to 10-6A, the state's largest classification.

Note: Unless otherwise stated, all transfers are subject to UIL review for varsity athletics participation.
