Texas took a giant step towards replacing production lost at wide receiver with the addition of Alabama transfer Isaiah Bond.

The Longhorns lost their top five receivers from the 2023 squad. Johntay Cook II is the only returning wide receiver to record a college reception. Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement on Wednesday.

Bond led the Crimson Tide with 48 catches for 668 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore in 2023. He caught seven passes for 96 yards and a touchdown in a memorable performance against Texas A&M. Bond caught 17 passes for 220 yards and one score as a true freshman in 2022. The Buford, Ga. Native was a four-star recruit in high school.

The 5-foot-11, 182-pound Bond can play outside and in the slot. He’ll join a wide receiver room that needs a proven go-to target for the returning Quinn Ewers. The Longhorns also added Houston wide receiver Matthew Golden through the transfer portal. Cook returns, as do talented youngsters such as DeAndre Moore Jr. and Ryan Niblett. Texas also signed five-star receiver Ryan Wingo in the 2024 recruiting class.
