Canadian (14-0) vs. Gunter (14-0), 6 p.m. Friday at Abilene’s Wildcat Stadium: It’s been a tale as old as time as Gunter and Canadian tangle for the seventh time in the last eight years. Odds are this one will come down to the very end, as so many of these games have.

Canadian was efficient in its 31-12 win over Wall as it had the feeling the Wildcats were simply trying to get out of the game healthy as CHS ran out to a 21-0 halftime lead behind two first half touchdown passes from Camren Cavalier. After Wall used a ball control offense to milk most of the third quarter away to cut the lead to 24-6, Cavalier iced things with a fourth quarter touchdown run.

Gunter had to play four quarters for the first time in a while as an explosive Jacksboro offense made the Tigers work in a 55-33 win. QB Walker Overman led a crisp and dynamic Gunter attack with two touchdown runs and three touchdown passes.

But did Jacksboro expose some things in what had been a lights out good Gunter defense? The good thing if you are a Gunter fan is because those potential flaws were exposed last week, the staff has time to clean it up.

This will be another classic that likely comes down to the final play. The edge goes to Gunter, which holds a 4-2 edge in the series, but it’s a razor thin edge.
