Tarleton announced Tuesday that men's basketball head coach Billy Gillispie will step away from the team for an indefinite period of time. A source tells Texas Basketball that it is to handle a "minor" medical procedure that will keep the 64-year-old head coach off the bench for a while.

Assistant coach Joseph Jones will act as interim head coach during this time. Jones served as acting head coach during the SoCal Challenge this weekend. He joined Tarleton in 2021 and is a Hall of Famer at Texas A&M where he played.
