Anna (10-1) vs. China Spring (8-3), 7:30 p.m. Friday at Joshua’s Owl Stadium: Two teams who played for the Region II title a year ago reconnect this time in the area playoffs. Both teams come into this one not playing their best football, so this one is fascinating.

Anna’s defense was stellar last week, but the offense struggled with the rain and a tough Wilmer-Hutchins secondary in a 17-0 win. Anna’s points were all set up by its defense as the Coyotes tallied just 174 yards of offense and just 14 yards through the air.

China Spring’s offense hasn’t had any issues led by North Texas QB commit Cash McCollum and tough-running Kyle Barton. The concern for China Spring is on defense, which has allowed at least 24 points in all 10 games.

When both teams are operating at peak levels, they can win a state title. But that consistency both teams showed a year ago hasn’t been there. I’ll lean to China Spring as the two-time state champions, but this is a total coin-flip.

Stepp’s Pick: China Spring by 2
