Week Six was the biggest open week of the Texas High School Football season. Despite 457 programs on their bye, there was more than enough talent to see. Here are our takeaways from the weekend.
Hitchcock Highlight Reel
Name: Lloyd Jones III | School: Hitchcock | Class: 2025 | Pos.: QB | HT: 6'3" | WT: 200
Jones sliced up Class 4A Salado on Saturday afternoon in an easy 45-14 win, he threw for four touchdowns and ran for another score. Jones displayed pocket awareness beyond his years moving around while looking to throw and being decisive when he decided to run. Jones made all the throws and displayed tremendous accuracy. - Matt Stepp
Name: Damien McDaniel | School: Hitchcock | Class: 2024 | Pos.: WR/DB | HT: 6'0" | WT: 170
McDaniel, currently a UNLV commit, had a touchdown catch and an interception while playing both sides of the ball for the Bulldogs. He also made a circus catch in a jump ball situation on a two-point conversion. He looks equally fluid on either side of the ball and is a real steal if UNLV can hang on to his commitment. - Matt Stepp
Name: Kelshaun Johnson | School: Hitchcock | Class: 2025 | Pos.: WR | HT: 5'11" | WT: 160
There's not much the 2025 speedster can't do on the football field, Hitchcock lines him up all over the field and he's dynamic in all positions. Johnson has great hands and displayed great short area quickness. He caught a 24-yard touchdown pass on a great route down the sideline and took a short pass 68-yards for a score showing off his open field speed and elusiveness. - Matt Stepp
Lewisville lays it on in run game
Name: Michael Fasusi | School: Lewisville | Class: 2025 | Pos.: OT | HT: 6'4" | WT: 285
Fasusi is one of the top-rated prospects in the nation, securing early offers from all the top college programs. Playing left tackle, he showcased adequate pass protection but had a couple of big blocks in the run game, springing his running back for big gains. It's easy to see why all of these programs are chasing him. - Greg Powers
Name: Viron Ellison | School: Lewisville | Class: 2024 | Pos.: RB | HT: 5'11" | WT: 180
Ellison was the star of the night for Lewisville, at times completely taking over the game. He runs much tougher than his listed attributes might suggest. He is very physical and will run through arm tackles. He has good acceleration, which helps him pick up yards in bursts. He was a capable pass-cacher out of the backfield, as he was the team's leading rusher and receiver. All in all, he collected 238 total yards and scored four times. - Greg Powers
Conroe Oak Ridge's stout front seven
Name: Justin Williams | School: Conroe Oak Ridge | Class: 2024 | Pos.: LB | HT: 6'2" | WT: 210
Williams had a monster game, showcasing elite sideline-to-sideline speed, tackling ability, and coverage skills. Williams exhibits exceptional on-field versatility, consistently maintaining his presence in plays thanks to his athleticism. His speed, combined with rapid acceleration makes him a formidable force, particularly in open spaces, where evading his grasp becomes a daunting challenge for ball carriers. After the game, Williams was named a five-star prospect by DCTF. He is committed to Georgia. - Greg Powers
Name: Joseph Jonah-Ajonye | School: Conroe Oak Ridge | Class: 2024 | Pos.: DL | HT: 6'4" | WT: 270
Jonah-Ajonye is one of the state's most physically imposing prospects and instantly stands out. He has long arms -- his 6'10 wingspan checks out -- that allows him to separate from offensive linemen and find the ball. He has a chance to develop into an elite run-stuffer up front in the SEC at Georgia, where he is committed. - Greg Powers
Hidden Gems at QB
Name: Edward Griffin | School: Coppell | Class: 2025 | Pos.: QB | HT: 6'3" | WT: 230
Griffin was the breakout star of Coppell's 49-28 upset win. He completed 23 of 28 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another score. The 2025 gunslinger proved he could stay calm under pressure and scramble around to find throwing lanes. His efficiency was the difference maker as he made no mental errors or turned the ball over. - Greg Powers
Name: Braxton Roberts | School: Frisco Panther Creek | Class: 2024 | Pos.: QB | HT: 6'2" | WT: 175
Roberts was forced to sit out all last season after transferring, and he's responded in his first year as the starter by throwing for 1,871 yards, 17 TDs and just four interceptions in six games. He can make any throw on the field, but I was most impressed with his athleticism. He's an effective scrambler that never seems panicked, and he's constantly got his eyes downfield even when forced from the pocket. Panther Creek is now 5–1 in just their second season as a varsity program. - Carter Yates
Dynamic Defensive Backs
Name: Devondre McGee | School: Conroe | Class: 2024 | Pos.: CB | HT: 6'0" | WT: 175
McGee was extremely impressive, drawing a one-on-one assignment versus a bigger-framed receiver. McGee completely limited him. He's a big playmaker as well. He blocked a kick and recovered a fumble. Stock up for the TCU commit, who I expect as a Hot 100 member at the end of the day. - Greg Powers
Name: Donovan Webb | School: Frisco Panther Creek | Class: 2026 | Pos.: FS/WR | HT: 6'0" | WT: 165
After getting his feet wet last season as a freshman on Varsity playing cornerback, Webb is starting to blossom at the free safety position covering the entire field. He's willing to crash down to make a tackle in the run game, and he's got the ball skills to defend over the top. He had an 84-yard pick six, a one-handed catch as a wide receiver on offense and multiple other standout plays. - Carter Yates
Name: Braylon Edwards | School: Wilmer-Hutchins | Class: 2026 | Pos.: CB | HT: 5'11" | WT: 175
Edwards's name is starting to heat up on the recruiting trail with an offer to SMU, and his play on the field is backing it up. He shows great coverage instincts on the outside, jumping a slant route for an interception on Thursday night against Panther Creek. - Carter Yates
Name: Jayvon Roe | School: Wilmer-Hutchins | Class: 2024 | Pos.: SS/WR | HT: 6'4" | WT: 210
I have no idea why I haven't heard more about Jayvon Roe. The senior made numerous physical hits screaming down from the safety spot, and he sparked Wilmer-Hutchins with a kickoff return touchdown in the first half. He was the most physically impressive player on the field. - Carter Yates
