Cy-Fair ISD announced on Thursday afternoon announced the hiring of The Woodlands College Park head coach Lonnie Madison as the next head football coach at Bridgeland High School, replacing David Raffield who announced his retirement last month. Raffield started up the Bridgeland program from scratch back in 2018.

Coach Madison, is a former student and player at Texas A&M and before landing his first head coaching job in Conroe ISD at The Woodlands College Park was the defensive coordinator at Klein Collins under now University of North Texas assistant coach Drew Svoboda.

In six seasons leading the College Park program, Coach Madison posted a 31-30 record and after a tough first season in which the Cavaliers won just a single game in 2017, CPHS posted four straight non-losing seasons from 2018-2021. In 2020, Coach Madison’s squad won the first district championship in school history and in 2021 the Cavaliers won their first playoff game in school history.

Madison’s coaching journey also includes stops at Conroe Oak Ridge, Clear Brook and Magnolia. During his playing days, he was a defensive lineman and tight end for Texas A&M and was a member of the Aggies' Big 12 championship team in 1998.

Madison takes over a Bridgeland program that in a short time has quickly established themselves as one of the top teams in the always competitive Cy-Fair ISD district, while Conroe ISD is expected to post Coach Madison’s former position at College Park High, fairly quickly.
