Price Carlisle head coach Clay Baker has been named to the same position at Henderson High School, a once proud program in East Texas that has fallen on hard times with three straight losing seasons, including bottoming out at 1-9 in 2022.

Baker has worked at Price Carlisle since he got into coaching in 2008 as an assistant under his father Rocky Baker, who was head coach at the small East Texas school from 2005-2017.

In 2018, Baker was promoted to head football coach at Price Carlisle and the Indians kept up their winning ways posting a 12-1 record in his first season. After making the area playoffs in 2019 and 2020, Carlisle stumbled to a 5-5 mark in 2021 but bounced back in 2022 posting an 11-2 mark and another trip to the regional semifinals.

His departure from Carlisle will open up one of the more attractive small school jobs in East Texas as Carlisle has a consistent track record of success.

Coach Baker is a graduate of Henderson High School and played baseball collegiately at Weatherford College and Northwestern State University. He’ll look to revive the Henderson program which as recently as 2018 was playing in a regional final and has in recent years made some impressive upgrades to their facilities on campus and at Lions Stadium.
