Former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has been named the head coach at Argyle Liberty Christian High School, according to the school's Twitter account.

Witten recently retired from the NFL after a storied 17-year career. The 38-year-old played 16 seasons with the Cowboys and then 2020 with the Las Vegas Raiders.

His 271 games played are the most of any tight end in league history, and only Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez has more receptions and yards at the position.

Witten originally retired after the 2017 season and spent the 2018 season as an analyst with ESPN's Monday Night Football. He returned to the Cowboys for the 2019 season, where he left as the franchise's all-time leader in receptions (1,215) and yards (12,977) and is second in touchdown catches (72).

He had four 1,000-yard seasons, and in 2012 he set the record for catches in a season by a tight end (110).
